Morning sailing tour

Our trips are a great experience for families, a group of friends or couples.

The properties of Excusive Resorts in Papagayo are located in the westernmost section of the Papagayo Peninsula. This fantastic location is definitely the prime spot in Guanacaste, offering not only incredible views, tropical forests but also a number of beautiful beaches. Our half day morning tour begins at 8 AM and finishes by 12 noon, and the pickup is included on the beach at Playa Blanca, which is located on the interior of the Gulf of Papagayo. This morning adventure includes sailing, snorkeling, stand up paddling and any other activity that might be to your interest. In case of wanting to extend the tour to a full day sailing tour, this must be done in advance.

Sunset Sailing

The sunset tour, similar to the morning half day tour also lasts for 4 hours, but begins at 2 in the afternoon and finishes by 6 PM, therefore clients can have the chance to enjoy the sunset from onboard our catamaran. The tour, like the morning trip, also includes snorkeling, stand up paddling and sailing, but also like the morning trip, it can be customized or extended to a full day tour.

Full day catamaran charter

The full day catamaran sailing charter normally begins at 10 in the morning and finishes by 6 pm. Unlike the half day tours, it also includes a delicious lunch on a secluded beach. All our tours and be custom designed, if indicated in advance. Some clients prefer sailing a lot, some like snorkeling, and some like beaches, and therefore we can emphasize on any of those activities, or simply combine a bit of everything. The stop at our secret beaches is definitely something clients enjoy a lot. The full day tour can be custom designed and upgraded to a UPPERIOR PREMIUM LUNCH, which must also be indicated in advance.

Our sailing tours will give you the chance to explore the rugged, impressive and dramatic coast of Guanacaste and the Papagayo Peninsula, including secluded beaches, hidden coves and beautiful pristine bays. Snorkeling around rocky pinnacles, stand up paddling, some trolling fishing and the use of kayaks can also be included for free, depending on the boats.

Our service is known both for being outstanding and personalized, and all our tours and be custom designed to the clients needs and desires. All tours also include transportation from the hotel and back, although most pick ups happen right on the beach, in cases of hotels that are located on the beach or at a close proximity.

Scuba Diving Murcielago Islands

The archipelago of Islas Murciélago is a paradise that few know, because due to its remoteness, it is a pleasure that only lucky eyes can enjoy.

After leaving the hotel at 07:00 am, you will have 80 minutes on the catamaran to enjoy the sea breeze and fine tune the view in search of dolphins, turtles and even whales.

You will reach San Pedrillo, a place of the few known in the world where you can dive with bull sharks in their natural habitat.

After the first dive and the encounter with these magnificent animals, we visit “El Refugio”, a group of islands that protect paradisiacal beaches with crystal clear water.

At this point there is a 30 minute break to go down to the beach and enjoy the sand or go on a hike in the islands. Take advantage of this moment to enjoy a healthy snack of fresh fruits and soft drinks.

In the second dive you will visit Bajo Negro, where you can enjoy incredible views of schools of fish, blankets, whitetip sharks, rays, turtles and other types of marine fauna that comes to this so called cleaning station. After this immersion returns to Playas del Coco.

A cold lunch is included – after the second dive – consisting of a fresh bread sandwich with roasted chicken, avocado, tomato and fresh cheese, drinks and fruits.

Papagayo Half Day Morning Sailing

Gulf of Papagayo Sunset Tour

Get ready for a romantic trip onboard one of our beautiful and spacious sailboats or catamarans. Depart after lunch at 1:0 and head out to open ocean.

Discover the beauty of colorful fish while snorkeling around rocky pinnacles and reefs. Learn paddle boarding or SUP, go for a sea kayaking trip, or swim, rest or sunbathe near an unspoiled beach. Later at around 5:00, the spectacle of the colorful sunset begins.

Watch onboard the boat while enjoying drinks, snacks and fruit as the sun goes down fast, changing from light yellow, to orange to dark red.

Besides, for those who are comfortable at the hotels and resorts but rather wish to leave the hustle for a while it is the perfect getaway. Contrary to what it looks like, Guanacaste does still have endless distances of rugged and raw natural coastline with empty and remote natural beaches.

After snorkeling we will head to a secluded and undeveloped beach outside the
commercial area, where you will have the chance to enjoy the beach, the sand, the
warm tropical water, ( stand up paddling and ocean kayaking also included depending on the boat ).This is where you will also enjoy the delicious BBQ lunch right on the beach.

All tours are customized, so in case you contact us in advance, let us know what your main interest is and we will design the tour accordingly.

After hours on the beach, or some more sailing and snorkeling, you will be heading
back to the hotel, while watching the amazing colors of the sunset. The estimated

Scuba Diving Catalina Islands

The Catalinas Islands are a group of volcanic islands located approximately 40 minutes from Playas del Coco, where marine life abounds thanks to its coral reef and rocky.

These islands are known locally and internationally for the spectacular migrations of Golden Stripes and the constant presence of Móbulas, Oceanic Blanket, Whip Stripes and other marine animals like turtles, clown shrimp, whitetip sharks, moray eels.

After leaving Playas del Coco at 07:30 am, we will visit the main dive points of the area: La Pared, La Viuda, Sombrero and Aquarium, conducted by our experienced Dive Master. Points to visit vary depending on wind and current conditions.

After the first dive, you will enjoy a healthy snack of fresh fruits and non-alcoholic drinks. In the second dive visit another point inside the area to complete the underwater experience and return to Playas del Coco.

Between the second and third immersion you will enjoy a cold beachfront lunch consisting of a fresh bread sandwich with roasted chicken, avocado, tomato and fresh cheese.

Overnight Murciélago Islands

For this magical tour, the group meets on the beach at 8:00 pm and set sail for Murcielago Islands. Cocktails and a delicious chocolate cake with vanilla ice cream welcomes you to this spectacular adventure.

A talk about the description of the trip, expectations and about Murciélago Islands is provided during the trip to El Refugio and the remaining time is used to spend a pleasant time with fellow travelers.

The night ends early to start the day after the first hour. It is raised to the place of anchorage at approximately midnight.

The next morning begins at 6:30 am and a delicious typical breakfast is taken at 7:00 am.

Then, we go to the dive points (according to the PADI level of certification) to enjoy two spectacular dives where you will be able to observe a lot of fish, sharks, turtles, manta rays, morays and abundant marine fauna. Snacks, fruits and non-alcoholic drinks are enjoyed to relax between dives.

Back to the catamaran, a delicious lunch prepared by our chef will be waiting for you and in the afternoon, enjoy walking the trails of the island and admiring the spectacular view, lounging on the beach or snorkeling on the beach.

Back on the catamaran at night, snacks, drinks and board games will be available to brighten the evening before dinner.

The last day is eaten at the same time as the previous day and a last dive is enjoyed. Take a cold lunch on board and in the direction of Playas del Coco, where you will arrive around 4 o’clock in the afternoon.

Overnight trip — The overnight trip is much more than a tour, it is a real nature expedition with first class service and amenities.

Restrictions: Only during the months of June, July and August. Outside those months, departure will be subject to weather conditions.

The 4-hour private Sunset Sailing tour departs at 2 PM and returns around 6 PM. During this exciting tour, we will explore the coast of Guanacaste, which is known for its beaches, the many rock formations (pinnacles, islets and islands) as well as the wild and dramatic landscape that includes steep forested mountains that reach the sea.

During the Sunset tour, you will enjoy sailing under the beautiful blue sky, snorkeling around some lost islet or rocky pinnacle, where colorful coral fish abound, you can stand up paddle (depends on the boat) or sea kayak (depends on boat) at a virgin beach where we usually also make a strategic stop.

At the end of the tour, the landscape and nature normally reward all participants with the incredible colors of the sunsets, an impressive and unforgettable view.

Wildlife species we might see during the tour include dolphins, sea turtles, flying fish, or even a breaching whale, normally humpback whales during the seasons although other whale season are also present.

Secluded beaches during the sunset tour — Guanacaste has many enchanting and secluded beaches

Sunset Sailing Tour Highlights

The sunset tour last for 4 hours, and it incldues the same activities and highlights as the morning tour. The main difference between the morningt tour and the private sunset sail is the fact that you will see the sunset from aboard the sailboat catamaran. However, besides that, the included activities and places you will visit are the same. Snorkeling, stand up paddling, kayaking ( inquire ) as well as sailing and exploring secluded beaches is part of the tour.

During the rainy seasons, you might want to inquire in advance wether you should book the sunset or the morning trip, since chances of rainfall are higher during the afternoon trip.

However, the private half day sailing , the sunset sailing and the full day sailing charter have a special discount rate when the group is larger. All private tours include pick up directly at the hotel beach and the return is also to the beach directly in front of the hotel.

The best advice and the selection of boats is very profesional. I loved the fact that the company runs 4 catamarans, al of them great. The charter was perfect. Great sailing crew, excellent onboard service, food and the drinks and service in general fantastic. The snorkeling gear is first quality. Very good and a statement to the service of this country. We even got to see a sea turtle. Tartuga Lora.

We booked the afternoon tour because we wanted to see the sunset. After 2 hours of sailing, BLAM, rain, not a heavy rain, but hey, you can't control the weather today. Even so, with everything and rain it was a very fun tour. And as planned, at the end of the tour, it stopped raining and we could see the wonderful colors of these incredible sunsets as we sailed towards the hotel.

Perfect wedding venue. Playa Huevos. Special thanks to Luis, Michael, Randy and Papiio for your charisma, charm, service and service, you guys were great. The local fishermen from El Coco, thank you for the fresh lobserts and traveling far to make our "werd dream " come true. Still laughing about that.... The boat was impecable, timing as sharp and everything was just very well organized. Many thanks from Patsy and myself.

Great day trip, awesome food. The full day trip to Playa Guacascolito was just perfect. Food was superb, fresh fish. Loved the fact that it was really very secluded, we were not used to that but that was an experience beyond what we have ever had before. Just us, nature and service.

Great food, great staff, luxury and confort but still nature and beautiful lonely beaches as the main highlight. I loved this combination, confort and pampering service and ameniies with the feeling of adventure and expeditions. Superb Destinatio Unknown and Zafira and Puar Vida, best catamrans we have sailed with so far in Costa Rica.
