The Four Seasons Papagayo, on the beautiful Peninsula, is one of the most incredible hotels in Guanacaste.


It is located on a wooded peninsula, dramatic in topography, and has several beaches, including Playa Virador and Playa Blanca, which face opposite latitudes, but at the same time, are distanced by only a short distance of 160 meters.

The Papagayo Peninsula is one of the best places for sailing, as the waters are calm, and the geography and topography make for an abundance of small coves, islets and rocky reefs, which greatly enhances the sailing experience on a sailing catamaran.

Our private tours offer the experience of being able to appreciate the most natural part of Guanacaste.

Our boats pick you up directly from the beach, either Playa Blanca or Virador, and once on board, you will sail along the coast, usually heading west towards the islands at the end of the peninsula.
Once there, you will visit a lovely pristine and undeveloped beach, where you can enjoy swimming in the sea, snorkeling or paddle boards.
During the tour, on the private tour, our crew will serve drinks as well as light meals. Of course our clients can listen to their own music on the Bloo tooth system on board.

Dolphin and whale watching

During some months of the year, it is also possible to observe humpback whales, as well as other species of cetaceans. This occurs especially between August and October, as well as during January and February.

Dolphins are more common throughout the year, as they are residents, at least some species, of the waters of the Gulf of Papagayo, located in the interior of the Peninsula.

Diving and Sailing Tours in Guanacaste

In some of our catamarans and sailboats, we have the possibility to carry dive gear. Since we also own a Dive Shop near Papagayo, Guanacaste, and have a knowledgeable scuba diving crew, it has become quite common to combine a private sailing charter with two tank dives, both at the local dive sites or even in the famous Catalina Islands and also the Murcielago Islands.

Equipment on the catamaran

One of our catamarans in particular, which is the one we use for overnight dive tours to Cocos Islands, comes with Tank Racks and Dive platform. Therefore, it is perfect in case some members of the group are PADI or NAUI certified and wish to dive while the other clients maybe snorkel around a rocky pinnacle or a rocky reef more suited for snorkeling.

The immersions have an additional cost, but they are below the regular 2 or 3 tank dives when booked along with the charter.

Best sailing and diving destination combined

One of the famous dive sites is Murcielago Island, which is part of the Guanacaste Conservation Area. While quite far away from the developed coast of Guanacaste, it is a must to book the overnight sailing tour in order to dive there. We also recommend to book 3 tank dives ( 2  OR 3 ) in order to make the most of this fantastic dive destination. The Murcielago Islands are world famous for a good visibility, absolutely unspoiled environment, and large schools of big fish, including large Manta Rays, large Bull Sharks in the outer islands and large schools of coral and oceanic fish in general. Fishing has been forbidden near the islands for decades, therefore, a very healthy environment is present.

Other local dive sites can be quite good, and are ideal for divers when they only book a half day sailing charter of the full day sailing charter. Local 2 tank dives can be booked additionally during of after booking our catamaran.

This is a full day tour that will give you the chance to enjoy the REAL GUANACASTE province, which offers amazing secluded and lonely beaches, with no presence of human development, rugged and dramatic coastlines with dramatic mountains falling right into the ocean, tropical dry forests, deep blue ocean and amazing wildlife.

The morning tour departs at 8:30 a.m., when the day is just beginning, and the sea is calm, clear and the weather is cooler.

We pick up the clients directly on the beach, in front of Andaz, and head out to sea, actually sailing with the sails.

The private afternoon tour departs from the beach at Andaz Papagayo at 2 p.m. and returns at 6 p.m., just in time to watch the sunset from aboard the catamaran while enjoying your last cocktail.
During the tour, you will enjoy various activities, including snorkeling, paddle boarding, or swimming in the sea near a pristine beach while the catamaran is anchored.
