The sunset tour is one of the most popular tours we offer from Secrets Papagayo, perhaps because besides including an ocean eco adventure (snorkeling, paddle boards, kayaking and kayaking included) it offers of course the chance to admire the unique and fantastic sunsets of the Papagayo Peninsula in Guanacaste.

The tour departs at 2 pm and returns after sunset, around 6 pm. During the tour we will sail along the most pristine and natural coast of the Peninsula, visiting a beautiful natural beach, and enjoying activities such as snorkeling, paddle boarding, fishing (if you catch something our crew will prepare it in Sashimi). Other services you can enjoy are open bar, delicious meals, sound system to listen to your own music and attention from our crew.

More than a party tour, an ocean expedition.

During some months of the year, it is even possible to see whales (July to October and January and February), while sea turtles as well as dolphins and sometimes even monkeys are resident species that are quite abundant.

Another advantage in the case of Planet Hollywood Papagayo is that the hotel has a beach in front, which enables us to pick up our clients directly from the beach, without the need to go to a nearby port or dock.

Like all our other private tours, we include unlimited drinks with a good variety of beverages, as well as delicious food served on board by the crew.

The emphasis of the tour, as with all of our tours, is nature, and being able to sail, really set sail, to pristine and remote sites, usually along the Papagayo Peninsula.

The westernmost part of the Peninsula has beautiful undeveloped beaches, where again, our clients can enjoy nature. Hopefully on the way we can see sea turtles, dolphins and with some luck, even monkeys that inhabit the dry forests of the peninsula.

Our catamarans and sailboats, as well as boats and yachts, have different passenger capacities, so it is important that you always tell us the number of people on board, so we can recommend the best option.

In case of Peninsula Papagayo, we pick clients up from right on the beach.   The following catamarans are the ones I suggest, at the same price.  It is a wonderful private tour, with lots of focus on nature ( perhaps dolphins, snorkeling, natural and pristine secluded coastline, remote beaches ) but also services and ammenities included.

Both have a max capacity of up to 28 PEOPLE.

It is still available so far for those dates, but I should need to know quite soon since there are many requests.

For a PRIVATE HALF DAY either in the morning from  8 – 12  or in the afternoon from 2 – 6 the price is of  1150 U$ up to 6 and each additional person is 85 U$

For a PRIVATE FULL DAY  up to 6 it is  1550 U$ and then each additional passengers pays 110 U$.  It would be departing from the beach at  10 AM and returning after sunset at 6 PM

Morning catamaran sailing

The private half day morning charter leaves from the beach at Planet Hollywood at 8 30 am and returns by 12 O Clock. This 4 hour ocean experience will take you sailing west, towards a secluded beach located near the end of the Papagayo Peninsula.

The trip includes open bar, light foot items served onboard, snorkeling, fishing rods, paddle boards and a very pleasing and profesional crew.

Sunset private sailing

The 4 hour sunset charter is ideal for those who wish to see the colorful sunsets that happen in the area. 

We will pick you up on the beach in front of Planet Hollywood at 2 pm and you will return by 6 pm, just in time before dark but with the opportunity to enjoy the magical sunsets typical of the Papagayo Peninsula.

The sunset charter includes open bar, food, items, snorkeling, apddle boards and visiting a secluded beach.

Full day private sailing charter

The full day private catamaran trip is right for you if you wish to share an entire day on the ocean with your friends, family or coworkers.

Leaving from the beach in front of the hotel at 10 am, it returns after the sunset, by 6 pm.

During the trip you have fishing rods, snorkeling, paddle boards and great music sound system included.

You will also visit a secluded beach, where the crew will prepare a delicious BBQ lunch served on the pristine sand, while you can continue enjoying snorkeling, bathing, swimming or paddle boarding.

Come sail with us in the calm waters of Papagayo and experience the beauty of the Papagayo Peninsula and the Gulf of Papagayo. Get up early in the morning and join us on our private charter with our catamaran.

On our sailing catamaran tour, where we really sail with the sails, you can enjoy snorkeling, paddle boarding and swimming in the sea, either near a reef or close to or on a remote and pristine beach.

Marine wildlife watching is also one of the attractions of the tour, and with some luck, you may see dolphins, sea turtles, lots of fish during the snorkeling and maybe whales during the whale season.

Morning charter tour includes:

Characteristics of the tour:

During the mornings, the sea is usually calmer, with fewer boats and fewer people. Also the weather is usually a little cooler. Also, during the morning hours there is less chance of rain during the rainy season, although the afternoons can still have very good weather.

Itinerary of the private charter:

The morning private charter departs from the beach as 8 AM and returns at 12 noon.

You can book a half day tour, either in the morning or in the afternoon, and you can also book a full day private charter, which runs from 10 AM to 6 PM.

Papagayo Peninsula

The beautiful  Papagayo Peninsula is located on the northern Pacific coast of Costa Rica, northwest of the province of Guanacaste, in the Gulf of Papagayo.  It was formed due to volcanic activity and atmospheric conditions. To the north is a larger peninsula, the Santa Elena peninsula, another wild, remote and pristine peninsula which protects the waters of the Papagayo peninsula, making it a preferred sailing destination.

The Papagayo Peninsula is a popular tourist destination. It is home to the Four Seasons Resorts Costa Rica, which includes an Arnold Palmer signature championship golf course. The peninsula also features a complex of luxury homes and properties, including Pexs and Exlusive Resorts, both located on the Peninsula. By government mandate, 70% of the peninsula’s territory must be kept in its natural state to preserve its beauty, which must not be overshadowed by overdevelopment.

Sailing in the  Gulf of Papagayo in northern Guanacaste is perhaps the best sailing location in Guanacaste and in all of Costa Rica.

The beautiful gulf, located in front of the Papagayo Peninsula is well known for calm waters, abundant wildlife and breathtaking views of the Pacific Ocean.

Private sailing charters

For clients staying at any of the hotels and resorts in the Papagayo Peninsula or adjoining beaches, including Four Seasons Papagayo, Exclusive Resorts, Andaz Papagayo, El Mangroove, Playa Hermosa, Secrets Papagayo, Planet Hollywood and El Coco, Ocotal and Riu, these waters are definitely the best for a fun half day or full day sailing experience.

Half day trips

We offer private half day sailing charters in the morning or in the afternoon, depending on the wishes of the clients.

Both tours include the same, from open bar, food items, snorkeling, paddle boarding and you also get to visit one of the many secluded beaches in the Papagayo Peninsula.

The morning tour departs by 8 30 am and returns around 12 30, while the sunset tour departs at 2 and returns by 6 PM, so you get to see the sunset.

Full day sailing

The Full Day sailing charter is for those who wish to enjoy a full ocean experience, ranging from 10 am to 6 pm, including a rich and delicious fresh lunch, normally served on or nearby a secluded beach in the Papagayo Peninsula.

Whales, dolphins and more

 

During the months of August to October, and again from January to February, it is possible that you might encounter humpback whales, which come north of south to the warm waters of Costa Rica.

Besides whales, you might also encounter dolphin species, several of which are quite common to be seen swimming along the catamaran or sailboat.
